Minutes Jan 12 2026

SCANDINAVIA HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF WISCONSIN JANUARY 12, 2026
The meeting was called to order by Carl Lantz at 7 p.m. at the Municipal Center.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the secretary read the minutes from the previous meeting. There was one correction. Lupe Munoz donated the Norwegian plates. Gordon Peterson made a motion the minutes be accepted as corrected. Charlie Thompson seconded the motion. Motion Carried.
John Bobbe made a motion that we accept the treasurer’s report as read. Nancy Lantz seconded the motion. Motion Carried.
Lupe Munoz gave us an update on our website. She will meet with Mary Peterson to pick out more pictures that could go on the website.
Carl Evenson briefed us on the barbershop. We are in need of a shelf. He contacted Quest Interiors in Oshkosh. The offered to donate two countertops in white marble to our organization. Carl has also fixed the cane chairs in the barbershop. He has also sewn a white barber’s coat with buttons and also a cape that will go around the person getting his hair cut. Both are made out of materials from his grandmother and also vintage buttons and snaps. Thank you Carl.
Carl Lantz is looking for early log building tools, horse or oxen drawn implements and a cradle scythe. Carl Evenson said he had one. Lupe asked for a list of things we are looking for to put on Facebook.
The new shed is complete except for doors, a second coat of stain which will be done next spring, and electricity.
New Business:
Our chili luncheon fundraiser was discussed. Carl passed around a clipboard for members to sign up for the different responsibilities. We usually have more bars than needed, so it was suggested we put the extras on plates and sell the plates. We need help with getting our donations for the basket raffle. Nancy has had new banners made and Mary has the raffle license. It takes everyone to make it a success.
Our next meeting is March 9th.
John Bobbe made a motion the meeting be adjourned. Gordon Peterson seconded the motion. Motion Carried
Tonight we celebrate 20 years of preserving history of Scandinavia and Mary told of some of our accomplishments. Then we all celebrated with cake and ice cream.
